Coffee & Mood: What a 10-Year Study of More Than 50,000 Women Actually Found

Coffee & Mood: What a 10-Year Study of More Than 50,000 Women Actually Found Sok-It

There is something about that first sip of coffee that just makes the morning feel a little better.

Maybe it's your iced coffee on the drive to work, ten quiet minutes before opening your laptop, or meeting a friend at your favorite coffee shop. Maybe it's the iced coffee you grab on your way out the door, with your favorite JavaSok already picked out for the day to go with the fit.

Coffee is part caffeine, part routine, and sometimes part personality.

And according to one long-running study, there may be an interesting connection between caffeinated coffee and mood, too.

More Than 50,000 Women and a Whole Lot of Coffee

Researchers followed more than 50,000 women for 10 years and found that higher caffeinated coffee consumption was associated with a lower risk of developing depression during the study period.

Women who drank two to three cups of caffeinated coffee per day had a lower relative risk compared with women who drank one cup or less per week. For women drinking four or more cups per day, the relative risk was even lower.

That's certainly enough to get the attention of anyone currently reading this with an iced coffee in hand.

But there is an important distinction. The study found an association, which does not prove that drinking coffee prevents depression.

So we're not prescribing a dose of extra-large cold brew here.

What the research does give us is a pretty interesting reason to think about something coffee lovers already know, sometimes your daily coffee feels like more than just a way to wake up.

Sometimes It's the Ritual

Think about the part of your coffee routine you actually look forward to.

Is it making your coffee before anyone else in the house wakes up?

Pulling into the drive-thru and ordering the exact same thing you've ordered approximately 400 times before?

Taking that first sip at your desk before checking your inbox?

Or meeting a friend for coffee and somehow turning "just grabbing a quick coffee" into a two-hour conversation?

Those little moments become part of our days.

Your coffee order might change, but the ritual tends to stick around.

The First Sip Just Hits Different

There is the person you are before your first sip of coffee.

And then there is the person you are after it.

Coffee lovers know the difference.

Sometimes it's less about needing caffeine and more about having something familiar to look forward to. You grab your favorite cup, pick your favorite JavaSok print, and suddenly the day has officially started.

JavaSok fits right into that routine by helping manage condensation, helping keep your hands dry, and helping to keep your drink colder for longer.

Because your morning ritual is much nicer when your iced coffee isn't also creating a small lake on your desk.

Your Coffee Order Says a Lot About You

Some people switch their coffee order every season.

Others found their order six years ago and have absolutely no intention of changing it.

Cold brew in January? Perfectly reasonable.

Extra shot on Monday? Understandable.

Pumpkin flavor the second fall starts? Obviously.

Same iced coffee order 365 days a year? We know a few people.

That's part of what makes coffee culture fun. Everyone has their own order, their own routine, and their own very strong opinions about what qualifies as "too cold" for iced coffee.

And with all the colors and prints available, your JavaSok can be just as personal as the drink inside it.

So, Is Your Coffee Making You Happier?

What the study found was an interesting association between caffeinated coffee consumption and a lower risk of depression among the women studied. It doesn't prove that coffee was single handedly responsible, and coffee certainly isn't a treatment for depression.

But maybe the best part of your daily coffee isn't what it does for you. It's the ritual.

It's your favorite coffee shop, the order you've perfected, quiet time before the day gets busy, or catching up with a friend. It's one small part of the day that feels like your own.

And if iced coffee is part of that ritual, adding a JavaSok can elevate it even more. Pick a print you love, keep condensation off your hands, and help to keep your drink colder for longer.

Make the coffee run. Take your time. Pick your JavaSok that goes best with today's fit.

Enjoy the ritual that's yours.
